White as Snow

Growing up, I spent numerous Christmas breaks in the Swiss Alps. Often, it would snow overnight. Waking up the next morning, after a huge snowfall, was like waking up to a different and absolutely stunning world. Fresh fallen snow as far as the eye could see, tranquility and calm, the sun shining on it like glitter. Snow is also found in the Bible: “Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. Isaiah 1:18

There’s an awesome parallel between the beauty of natural snow and the Scripture in Isaiah. It’s about forgiveness and God removing the stain of sin. Naturally it was impossible to remove the dye in wool or fabric. So God said, “although you’ve been stained by sin, I can completely remove it and make you white as snow.” The color white represents innocence.

Through Christ we are completely forgiven. A new day has begun! Like waking up to fresh fallen snow, we can wake up to a brand new world: complete innocence because we’ve been made white as snow. Total calm because through the peace of God with His glory shining on your life. Live in the reality and freedom of God’s forgiveness today!
