Why We Do It
“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 6:37-38
The Need: workers. Jesus’ observation over 2000 years ago still rings true today: there’s a monumental task in reaching people, but not enough workers.
“You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.” 2 Timothy 2:2
The Goal: to train people well so they in turn can teach others.
Before Christ left the earth he said: “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone” Mark 16:15. And in Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
- Christ’s mandate (AKA the Great Commission) can be summed up in one word: “go!”
